Bridging Teams and Markets Across Asia Pacific: Growth and Practice of a Professional Woman in the Asia Pacific Workplace
Angel Yeast Special Feature for International Women’s Day

Abby serves as the General Management & Operations Manager of Angel Yeast Singapore Pte. Ltd. Leveraging Singapore’s strategic position as Asia Pacific’s commercial hub, she has dedicated herself to the end-to-end coordination of HR operations across multiple Asia Pacific countries and cross-team collaboration for regional market initiatives. She has become a critical linchpin connecting teams, markets and strategy across the region, embodying the professionalism and strength of women in the workplace through her international work.
“My role is essentially about connecting people, markets and strategy across the Asia-Pacific region.” This is how Abby describes her role. For her, the core of her work is to build efficient connections between diverse teams and markets, and drive the execution of cross-regional collaborative initiatives.
Bridging Teams and Markets in Asia Pacific: Building a Link for Cross-Regional Collaboration
Abby’s daily work centers on the overall coordination of human resources operations across multiple Asia Pacific markets, while also supporting cross-team collaboration for regional market projects. Alongside the company’s business growth, her scope of work has expanded from single-market support to regional-level coordination. “In an international enterprise, many tasks require joint efforts from teams across different countries, and communication and collaboration are always the key to driving smooth progress,” she says frankly.
“People-Centricity”: The Essence of HR Work in Asia Pacific
In conducting HR work across the Asia Pacific region, Abby has found that the core of many challenges lies not in processes and systems, but in “people” and “collaboration”. Her work focuses on talent acquisition and placement, organizational synergy, employee development support, and the optimization of cross-border communication mechanisms. Faced with differences in regulations, cultures and management practices across countries in the region, she notes: “We need to uphold the company’s overall management framework and standards, while also respecting the realities of local markets. What I do most is ‘translation’ and ‘coordination’.”
Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Turning Differences into Understanding
Cross-cultural collaboration is at the heart of Abby’s day-to-day work, and she has a deep insight into it: “Many issues are not about ‘right or wrong’, but about ‘different contexts’.” She always approaches the perspectives of all parties with an open mind, and strives to communicate information clearly and thoroughly. In her view, “The efficiency of most cross-cultural cooperation actually comes from long-term trust building, and trust is always built on respect, patience and consistent delivery.”
Bridging HR and the Market: Building a More Cohesive Team with Greater Global Confidence
In addition to her HR responsibilities, Abby also participates in regional market support and collaboration projects. She believes: “In overseas markets, team building and brand development always reinforce each other, and sustained market growth is underpinned by strong organizational capabilities.” For this reason, she often works closely with the marketing team to support event preparation, resource coordination and other work, gaining a more holistic perspective of the overseas business.
Words for International Women’s Day: A Gentle yet Resolute Career Choice
As a female professional working in an overseas workplace, Abby has unique insights into her career: “A lot of value is not demonstrated through ‘aggressiveness’, but recognized through long-term professionalism and consistency.” She believes that women’s inherent strengths in communication and empathy are particularly valuable in cross-cultural environments. “Being able to clarify complex matters and align the needs of all parties is a very tangible contribution.”
Her work experience at Angel Yeast has also given her a deep sense of groundedness: “The overall atmosphere of the company is very pragmatic. People gain recognition primarily through their professional competence and consistent delivery. This kind of environment makes you feel grounded, and more willing to make long-term commitments.” She also expresses gratitude to her female colleagues around her: “They work diligently in different positions, underpinning the team’s development with professionalism, patience and a strong sense of responsibility, making our work warmer and more empowering.”
Looking Ahead: Steady Progress Alongside the Team
Years of working experience across the Asia Pacific have given Abby a deep understanding of the importance of teamwork: “Great things are never achieved alone, but rely on long-term collaboration and trust between teams.” She has always believed: “The most important thing is not to place too many limits on yourself. As long as you maintain a learning mindset and professional dedication, everyone can find their own space for growth.”
Moving forward, Abby hopes to continue working side by side with teams across Asia Pacific countries. “While continuing to drive regional development, we also want to provide more outstanding talents with opportunities to grow on this platform.” She also has her own understanding of International Women’s Day: “It is not just a holiday, but more of a reminder. Amidst busy work, we should remember to acknowledge one another, lift each other up, and move forward steadily together.”
