Realizing comprehensive utilization of resources and extending the industrial chain of sugar enterprises, Angel takes molasses, which is difficult to dispose in sugar factories, as raw material to produce high value-added active dry yeast. In addition, in order to cope with the shortage of local resources and the rising price of honey market, Angel Yeast has created a precedent in the production of yeast by hydrolyzing sugar in China. And the company gradually explores the formation of the circular economy industry chain “agro-processing provides raw materials for products and the derivative products serve for agriculture while the main products on the table” to bring economic, environmental and social benefits.

In view of the world-wide problem of yeast organic wastewater treatment, Angel Yeast invests more than US＄148 million and independently develops comprehensive treatment technology of “separation of concentration and dilution and recycling of wastewater”. And the company has led the formulation of the Discharge Standards for Yeast Industry Wastewater in China.

Green power resources injected into factory

The company strictly implements the systems of “environmental impact assessment” and “three simultaneous” for new, reform and expansion projects, strengthens the work of environmental protection technology reform and ensures environmental protection investment. In 2021, the company has further optimized its environmental operation resources and has identified the production center’s overall management function for environmental protection production. In 2021, the total cost of environmental protection of the company was over US＄67 million, and 28 emission reduction projects of technology transformation were completed, reducing 19,700 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in total.

Angel Yeast (Dehong) Co., Ltd. was awarded the green certificate for electricity consumption. In order to implement social responsibility and promote green development, the company actively participates in the market-oriented trading of electricity and looks for green power resources. And in 2021, the annual purchased electricity is 103.78GWH, of which green power accounts for 89.93% and about 93.3GWH, which is equivalent to the emission reduction of 54,200 tons of carbon dioxide.

Build factory at raw material origin to stimulate local economy

As the main raw material for the yeast production is molasses, the by-product of sugar cane and sugar beet production, therefore, Angel chooses to build factories in the molasses production origins. As thus, molasses nearby has been digested to reduce the environmental pressure of sugar enterprises, save energy consumption of molasses transportation, and contribute more tax revenue and jobs to less-developed regions with sugar production as the main industry.

Additionally, consolidating the results of poverty eradication and contribute strength to the revitalization of rural economy, Angel Yeast has invested more than US＄110 million to build a new yeast factory in Lancang, Yunnan Province, to greatly extend the local sugar industry chain and boost the development of local special economy, planting, fruit and vegetable industries.
