YeaSel: Leading the Way in High-Quality Livestock and Poultry Meat Products

In the global wave of the livestock industry pursuing efficiency, safety and sustainability, the innovation of feed additives has become the key to solving the pain points of the industry. Yeast Selenium and chromium, with its natural advantage of organic trace elements, is reshaping the logic of feed formulas and creating dual value for both the breeding and food sectors.

Yeast Selenium and Chromium (YeaSel):Quality and Sustainable Development

At present, the global feed industry is confronted with three core demands: the first is to enhance the efficiency of breeding and cope with the cost pressure brought about by the fluctuation of feed raw material prices; Second, strengthen animal health and reduce reliance on antibiotics to comply with the new food safety regulations; Third, upgrade the added value of products to meet consumers' demands for functional livestock and poultry products. The bioavailability of traditional inorganic selenium and chromium additives is low (usually less than 40%), and excessive addition can easily cause environmental residues. Yeast Selenium and chromium, through the biological transformation of yeast, has a high proportion of organic selenium and organic chromium, significantly enhancing the absorption efficiency. At the same time, its low excretion characteristics reduce the risk of trace element pollution in soil and water bodies, meeting the green and sustainable development needs of the livestock industry.

Yeast Selenium and Chromium (YeaSel):Biological Functions

Selenium is an important component of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and selenoprotein in animals, plays a role in the balance of REDOX, and as one of the essential trace elements in animals, it has positive effects on the immunity, growth and reproduction of animals. Adding selenium to the diet of animals can effectively improve the performance, the antioxidant capacity and the quality of meat.

Chromium is an important active component of glucose tolerance factors (GTF) and significantly promotes the binding of insulin to cell receptors. This further promotes the synthesis of proteins and the metabolism of sugar and fat, reduces the body's fat content, and increases the lean meat ratio. Biologically active Cr3+ can also enhance the immunity and reproductive capacity of animals, improve the body's resistance to adverse conditions and stress, improve feed efficiency, and promote animal growth.

Yeast Selenium and Chromium (YeaSel) for Broiler Experiment

Recently, we conducted a broiler chicken experiment comparing different doses of Yeast Selenium and Chromium(commercial product from Angel yeast Co., LTD) with inorganic selenium(Na2SeO3), with a duration of 42 days.

Table 1 Experiment desin

The result is shown in the figure. Compared with 15 g/t Na2SeO3 group(CON), the Yeast Selenium and Chromium at a dose of 100g/t or 150g/t can to some extent increase by 3.8% the average daily weight gain(ADG) of broilers, reduce 0.05-0.08 of the feed-to-meat ratio(F/G), and have no significant effect on average daily feed intake(ADFI).

The addition of 100g/t or 150g/t the Yeast Selenium and Chromium to the diet could significantly increase the percentage of eviscerated yield(EP) of broilers (P<0.05), and increase the HEP(percentage of half-eviscerated yield), percentage of leg muscle yield(LMP) and percentage of breast muscle yield(BMP) of broilers, but had no significant effect on the dressed percentage(DP). In addition, as the dosage of the Yeast Selenium and Chromium in the diet increases, the percentage of abdominal fat yield(AEP) of broilers shows a decreasing trend.

In addition, this study show that the Yeast Selenium and Chromium at a dose of 100g/t or 150g/t to the diet can reduce the drip loss and shear force of the breast muscles. Meanwhile, the pH of the breast and leg muscles decreases less within 45 minutes. In terms of chicken meat color, it can increase the redness value(a*) of the breast muscles and reduce the yellowing value(b*).

Conclusion

The selenium and chromium in the Yeast Selenium and Chromium work in synergy to jointly regulate the metabolic process of broilers, improving their growth performance, slaughter performance and meat quality. The recommended additive dosage in the diet of broilers is 100-150 g/t.
