Joining Hands with FIA, Angel Explores Yeast Protein Innovation and Sustainable Future of Humanity

On November 10th, an Angel Yeast video on yeast protein innovation has been released on the "Food for the Future TV"column of the renowned media Food Industry Asia(FIA)platform. Angel participated in the production of the third season documentary series released by FIA, with themes divided into "Consumer Behavior", "Innovation", and "Governance and Sustainability". In the video, Mr. Zhang Yan, Dean of the Angel Yeast Research Institute, explores the potential of Angel Yeast's microbial fermentation innovations to provide a scalable and reliable supply of protein. Yeast Protein Innovation and Its Sustainable Future by Angel Yeast

Zhang Yan states in the interview that, Angel Yeast uses advanced high-throughput screening technology to screen high-quality strains with higher protein content. Through the fermentation process and post-extraction, the application scenarios of yeast protein are more diversified, including making various beverages, as well as plant-based or meat-based artificial meat. It can also help to diversify protein sources and solve the crisis of protein deficiency in Asia.

Angel Yeast are using high-density fermentation to reduce the use of water resources. And the company has also adopted a circular economy method in post-extraction to reduce water emissions, which can increase manufacturing efficiency and save energy consumption.

And Chen Zhixian, who acts deputy general manager of Nutrition & Health Technical Center at Angel Yeast, notes in the film that, unlike the production of plant protein, the microbial fermentation process of yeast protein is continuous and scalable, providing a reliable and stable supply of protein regardless of weather changes. The results of an experiment show that yeast protein and the gold standard whey protein are equally effective. They can increase muscle mass and strength in the exercise of middle-aged and elderly people.

In addition, to create a good taste appeal for customers, Angel Yeast team worked with their local partner and invited their local customers to taste products and then gave some advice. In this way Angel has basically solved this problem.
